Springtime in Paris for Musicians
The Concert Band and Choir visited Paris during the Easter holiday and gave three public concerts - two stints on the Fantasy Festival Stage at Eurodisney where they attracted keen crowds and an afternoon’s entertainment at Fondation de Rothschild - a modern, purpose built Retirement Centre in central Paris.

The residents were enthralled with the performances and the centre’s staff urged the Band and Choir to return in the future.
The itinerary provided opportunities for the students to sample the delights of Paris including the artistic Montmartre area, a boat cruise on the Seine and the fantastic views from the top of the Eiffel Tower. Band and Choir Director, Mr Gareth Howard said: “The students were a pleasure to be with all week and behaved impeccably”.
Jacob Perry is a keen archery fan and loves competing in National Field Archery Society Competitions. He won the Under 16 NFSA National Longbow Championship in a competition which took place over two days in woodland in the Lake District.
Participants camped in the hills and used traditional longbows with wooden arrows. They were allowed three arrows per 3-D target which were carefully placed in the woodland.
These events provide competitors with a glimpse of just how difficult it must have been for early humans to hunt enough prey to feed themselves and their families.

Song and Dance Cabaret Evening
In May, BTEC Performing Arts and BTEC Hospit- ality and Supervision students raised more than £1,000 for the charity Relate by providing an entertaining evening for more than 100 guests.
The Performing Arts students wrote and performed a show based on 1980s events like the miners’ strike and the emergence of punk, intertwined with a love story. They featured classic 80s hits such as ‘Eye of the Tiger’ and ‘Living on a Prayer’. Meanwhile, the Hospitality and Supervision students cooked and served a delicious 3 course meal.
