other up, and choose hope over fear, and choose again, and again, and again. Over and over, sometimes minute by minute. I have yet to meet someone who can predict the future…..so, since we do make it up, do what I tell my son……”Make it up good!”
And when someone gives up on hope, we carry it for them. This is, in fact, what binds us together as a community –this shared experience of loss, support and hope. NAMI, more than any other organization I know, passes this hope on, like a torch. This is what gives us our strength, our passion, our compassion and our commitment. So, thank you all –each and every one of you, for all that you do and the difference that you make, everyday. It is an honor to be a part of NAMI and to be of service to all of you.
I hope you complete this conference with new knowledge, a renewed sense of community and support, a stronger sense of hope, (or at least, a spark that glows a little brighter,) and that your return home having fed your spirit, mind and body for your travels along your roadmap to recovery.
