7.11

The conditions referred to in Clause 7.10 are that the Contractor shall not, by reason only of having employed or engaged a GP Registrar, reduce the total number of hours for which other medical practitioners perform primary medical services under the contract or for which other staff assist them in the performance of those services.

Where the Contractor employs a GP Registrar, the Contractor shall:

7.14

Where:

7.14.1

the Contractor employs or engages a person who is an Independent Nurse Prescriber or a Supplementary Prescriber whose functions will include prescribing; or

7.14.2

the functions of a nurse who is an Independent Nurse Prescriber a Supplementary Prescriber whom the Contractor already employs or has already engaged are extended to include prescribing,

it shall notify the PCT within the period of seven (7) days beginning with the date on which the Contractor employed or engaged the person, or the person’s functions were extended, as the case may be.

18 Clauses 7.14 to 7.17 are not mandatory, but PCTs are encouraged to include them to ensure that they have up to date records about prescribers.  However, if they are used, and the Contractor is an individual or a partnership, they will need to be amended to deal with the possibility that the individual or one of the partners is an independent nurse prescriber or a supplementary prescriber.
