Subsequent to this Burwash Place became a Retirement Home for the Elderly with accommodation for 17 residents. This existed for several years but was forced to close in 1997 as it did not comply with revised Health and Safety Regulations. At this time another well known personality, Clarence Tex Walker, one time lead singer of The Drifters and Coasters, resided at Burwash Place as caretaker.
The present owners the Wells and Green family, bought Burwash Place in 1998 as a three generation family home, and since then have sympathetically restored the public rooms and bedrooms to their former graciousness, putting in a superb staircase and galleried landing, while fitting a modern kitchen and several up-to-date luxurious bathrooms.
An enclosed heated swimming pool with shower and changing room has been built in the garden, and for children there is a most attractive and substantial tree house.
Burwash Place now offers all modern comforts but regains the elegance of former years.
