NetBackup for SQL Server contains of three components:
These components also interface with VxBSA.dll, which is a common NetBackup client module that connects NetBackup for SQL Server to the NetBackup server.
Figure 1-1 shows the relationships of NetBackup for SQL Server with other software components. The following interactions occur:
Every backup or restore operation is initiated through dbbackex.exe, in one
of these ways:
scripts, and launch backup and restore operations.
Launches backup and restore operations.
Facilitates backup and restore activities, access to SQL Server, and other operations that NetBackup for SQL Server performs.
The NetBackup scheduler calls bphdb (1), which calls dbbackex (2).
dbbackup.exe invokes dbbackex.exe (3).
dbbackex.exe is invoked directly from a command line or third-party tool.
