To back up a database filegroup

To change the host and instance you wish to access, refer to “Selecting the SQL host and instance” on page 63.

Choose File > Backup SQL Server objects.

In the Backup Microsoft SQL Server Objects dialog box, in the left pane, expand the instance name.

Select a database whose filegroups you would like to back up. In the right pane, select one or more filegroups that you want to back up.

Select the desired backup options.

See “Backup options” on page 65 for a description of the other available backup options.

Click Backup. To view the progress of the backup, choose File > View status.
