5 - Etta Christina Poinsett - 141 (1893 - 1955), the first child of August and Martha Poinsett, lived most of her early married years in DeSoto, MO, moving to St. Louis later where she lived the remainder of her life.
5 - Linus Roscoe Poinsett - 142 (1895 - 1962), the second child, served in the U. S. Navy during World War 1, from 28 Jul 1917 to 30 Nov 1918. He was the first man in Cape Girardeau Co to enlist in the navy. He worked, from 1923 to 1943, for the Sinclair Refining Company in Whiting, IN. During World War 11 he worked at the Mare Island Naval Base in Vallejo, CA, repairing submarines. He later returned to near Whitewater, MO, and lived there on a farm until his death. He was diagnosed as having leukemia in January, 1962, and died 6 July 1962, his wedding anniversary. He worked hard all his life and drew but one Social Security check. His daughter, Virgene, has fond memories of her father as a loving
father and a witty person with a great sense of humor.
5 - Roby August Poinsett - 143 (1905 - 1975) and Ruby Martha Poinsett - 144 (1905 -
were twins. They, like their older sister and brother, attended Council Ridge School. Roby worked as an operating engineer in the construction field throughout the midwest. He died of complications from diabetes at the hospital in Chaffee. Ruby moved to Flint, Michigan, with husband, John Ralph - 227, after their marriage, where he worked in the Fisher Body
