Donning PPE

1.

Washes hands using the appropriate hand-hygiene procedure

2.

Dons isolation gown, covering torso from neck to knees, arms to end of wrists, and wrapped around back,  fastening at neck and waist

3.

Applies the appropriate isolation mask, securing ties or elastic bands at middle of head and neck, fitting flexible band to nose bridge, fit snug to face and below chin (fit-check respirators)

4.

Puts goggles of face and adjusts to fit

5.

Dons non-sterile glove for isolation and extends gloves to cover wrists of isolation gown

Removing PPE

6.

Grasps outside of one glove with opposite gloved hand and peels off glove, holding removed glove in gloved hand

7.

Removes other glove by sliding fingers of ungloved hand under remaining glove at wrist

8.

Washed hands after removing gloves

9.

Removes goggles by handling by clean head band or ear pieces and places in designated receptacle for reprocessing or in waste container

10.

Removes gown by unfastening neck and waist ties and peeling it away from the neck and shoulders - ensuring that the contaminated outside of the gown is turned inside

11.

Hold the gown away from the body and folds it into a bundle, discarding it in the appropriate biohazard container

12.

Removes the mask or respirator by grasping only the top or bottom ties or elastics straps – ensuring not to touch the front of the mask/respirator which is contaminated

13.

Washes hands using the appropriate hand-hygiene procedure
