MODULE 4.0 - OXYGEN ADMINISTRATION
Upon completion of the module, the student will be able to apply and perform procedures relating to oxygen administration.
4.1Select an oxygen delivery system appropriate for the respiratory care plan
4.2Evaluate and monitor the patient’s response to oxygen therapy
4.3Describe how to modify or recommend modifications of oxygen therapy on the basis of patient response
4.4Describe how to check for proper function of oxygen delivery systems and identify and correct malfunctions
4.5Use proper charting procedure to document the patient’s oxygen therapy
4.6Demonstrate the use of an oxygen analyzer on a patient receiving oxygen administration
MODULE 5.0 HUMIDITY AND BLAND AEROSOL THERAPY
Upon completion of the module, the student will be able to discuss and perform procedures related to humidity and bland aerosol therapy.
5.1Explain the purpose and goals of humidity and/or bland aerosol therapy
5.1Assemble the necessary equipment needed to administer humidity for the various oxygen delivery devices
5.3Monitor and assess the effectiveness of humidity and/or bland aerosol therapy on a patient
5.5Take appropriate action in the care of a patient developing an adverse reaction to humidity and/or aerosol therapy
5.4Use proper charting procedure to document the patient’s humidity therapy
