AARP Multicultural Survey July 2001
This report begins with an overview that highlights the survey’s major findings. Following the overview, a more detailed discussion describes the demographic composition of the sandwich generation, their family situations, and their outlook, expectations, and desires. The report details how sandwich generation members care for other generations, as well as older boomers’ sources of help and thoughts about providing such care. Drawing on the oversamples, we also investigate differences among racial and ethnic groups. The report has two appendices: Appendix A contains a questionnaire with response totals, and Appendix B is a full explanation of methods. Unless otherwise stated, all data reported in this paper are taken from the survey results.
