n Poland it is a civilisational necessity to build an economy based upon knowled- ge. Improving the competitive advantage of the industrial and service sectors is necessary to gradually increase the level of prosperity and meet the challenges connected with our presence in the global market. Topics related to the abovemen- tioned issues were present at the Economic Forum in Krynica-Zdrój for years, howe- ver, their ever more important meaning has made us devote a separate meeting to such deliberations – the Innovations Forum. During this forum politicians, business- men and experts discuss problems and opportunities created by the development of an innovative economy in Poland and in Central and Eastern Europe. I
