5.17

    Utility Power Connector:   

The outlet shall be located over the intermediate compartment on the street side.  The power connector shall be rated for 20 amperes and shall be non-twist lock style.  The plug shall be auto-eject style.  The ejection must be through the ignition.

    Electrical 115 Volt AC Receptacles:

The patient compartment shall be furnished with a pair of 2 wire plus ground duplex 115 volt AC receptacles. Receptacles shall be near flush, vertically mounted. One outlet shall be located on the primary patient action wall and the other shall be located in the right front cabinet / storage area.   Both outlets shall be at least 31 cm (12 in.) from any oxygen outlet. An indicator shall be located within each 115 volt AC receptacle as a line monitor indicating a live (hot) circuit. The receptacles shall be labeled with the following: “115 VOLT AC.”

    Load Manager Device:  

A solid state controller which will sequentially switch "ON" seven relays at 1/2 second intervals shall be installed.  The controller will be activated by a "Master Control" switch located on the front console.  Likewise, turning the "Master Control" switch "OFF" sequentially deenergizes the loads at 1/2 second intervals.  In addition, the controller will monitor the vehicle's battery voltage.  When electrical loads exceed the alternator output, the load manager shall automatically de-energize up to 5 circuits as necessary to maintain the system voltage.  A Load Manager indicator light shall be furnished on the front console to indicate when the Load Manager is both ON and when it is in the Load Reduce Mode.
