There are two main mechanisms by which the host mounts a specific immune response against bacterial infection. These are:
The humoral(antibody) response
The cell mediated response
The humoral response Antibodies are proteins produced by B-lymphocytes in response to antigens (foreign substance which induces and binds with antibody).
