Areas of research Integrated systems in Sensing, and Communication
The research on Integrated Systems in Sensing, Imaging, and Communications would promote the integration of physical models, device technologies, and signal processing theory for the development of information systems with applications in sensing, imaging, and communications. The integrated system design approach promoted by the Center will result in the development of more compact, functional, and marketable information systems.
Embedded Networked Sensing
The research on Embedded Networked Sensing (CENS) would develop Embedded Networked Sensing (ENS) Systems and would apply this revolutionary technology to critical scientific and social applications. ENS systems are massively distributed collections of smart sensors and actuators embedded in the physical world. Research area would include: Adaptive Self-Configuring Wireless Systems, Coordinated Actuation, Collaborative Signal Processing, and Micro/Nano Sensor Technology. The societal applications of this research include: Habitat Sensing, Seismic Sensing and Structural Monitoring, Contaminant Transport Monitoring, and Monitoring of Marine Microorganisms.
Computational Nonlinear Science
Branch of modern engineering science, which develops analytical techniques and computational tools to enhance understanding and applicability of spatio-temporal dynamical processes characterized by (potentially unknown) nonlinear mathematical models.
