Thanks to Carolyn, K6TKD for keeping accounts straight. A BIG thanks to Ron, N6NIA for taking the minutes at meetings and other secretarial chores. Great BIG thanks to Rick; W6SR for a superb newsletter each and every month, keeping us informed with club news as well as propagation and DX reports. Thanks to Jeff, WK6I for his work putting together the contest dinner at Visalia. Thanks to board of directors’ members Ray, ND6S & Gary, KI6T for input. Thanks to the many members who participated in contests-for MLDX/CC and NCCC-contributing to club aggregate scores.
From SFGate-the SF Chronicle, online version, an article describing how a basin is forming in Ethiopia. "Dereje said that the split is the beginning of a long process, which will eventually lead to Ethiopia's eastern part tearing off from the rest of Africa, a sea forming in the gap. The Afar desert is being torn off the continent by about 0.8 inches each year." Is it too early to start thinking about separate country status?? Are Martti or Kan packing bags & making plans??
I operated the SS contests and CQ WW CW, but the ‘big’ thing at the Wilson QTH was the clearing of some of the noxious growth of ‘buck brush, manzanita, wild lilac, etc. enabling us to enlarge the radial field for proposed vertical antenna array. Preliminary calculations show the Mother Lode DX/Contest Club nosing out the Redwood Empire DX Association by about 100,000 points. MLDX/CC had about 17 entries representing about 20 members of the club participating as either on operator or station owner. Our total score is about 1,511,313 to REDXA’s 1,469,353. The REDXA figures were gathered from their club bulletin, CQP website and reflector reports. There may be some that did not report, but submitted, so we will have to wait for the official published reports. Too close!! Again, thanks to all.
Lyle Meek, W6WF was voted into MLDX/CC by unanimous vote taken via email due to forgetfulness of soon to be ex-president. Dick, K6LRN.
Greetings once again from beautiful uptown Auburn!

My election to our church board this past year has altered my priority list and I plan to focus on this commitment over the next year or so. In the meantime, I have been asked and
