5. TECHNICAL REGULATIONS

5(1) INTRODUCTION:

The following Technical Regulations are set out in accordance with the MSA specified format and it should be clearly understood that -

if the following texts do not clearly specify that you can DO IT

YOU SHOULD WORK ON THE PRINCIPLE THAT YOU CANNOT.

ELIGIBILITY CHECKS: All cars will be subject to normal pre-race safety scrutiny. Checks for eligibility may take place at this time or at any time during a race meeting, either before or after the race.

All engines must have two cylinder head studs drilled, two timing cover bolts and two sump bolts, on one side of the engine, to enable locking wire to be inserted. When any engine or other component is sealed these seals must not be removed without the prior authority of the MSA Scrutineer.

Any engine will be inspected in accordance with J3.1.4.

Any cost of stripping or rebuilding for inspection where an engine has been sealed at the specific request of the Midget Group Scrutineer or his representative will be the responsibility of the competitor.

It must be understood that the responsibility for ensuring the car complies with the regulations lies entirely with the competitor, and if he has any doubt at all a written request for confirmation must be made to the Championship Co-ordinator.

5(2) GENERAL DESCRIPTION:-

The MG Midget Challenge is for Competitors participating in -

MG Midget/Austin Healey Sprite vehicles and include historic bodied versions of these cars as follows:

Ashley, Lenham, Sebring, Speedwell, WSM to which MG Midget Challenge regulations prevail overall.

Austin Healey Championship cars conforming to Class C,D & E section of their Technical Regulations are eligible as follows:Healey Class C acceptable to MG Midget Challenge Group C

Healey Classes D & E are acceptable to MG Midget Challenge Group B

5(3) SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

The following articles of MSA Appendix Section K Safety Criteria Regulations will apply:-.

[K1.2.1. to K1.7. minimum Drawing 1 or 2], [K2.1.2. Four Point], K3.1.1,

K5, K6, K8, K9, K10, K13, K14.

5(4) GENERAL REQUIREMENTS & EXCEPTIONS:

Group A = Fully Modified Cars

Group B = Race Modified Cars

Group C = Road Going Cars

Cars must comply with MSA General Technical Requirements as detailed in current Yearbook sections Section J & Section Q
