Removal of highly contaminated soil from the river bottom: The available results reveal that the sediment of the downstream part of the river stretch contains high concentration of heavy and trace metals which are non biodegradable. Since these are having long shell life, any organisms reared in this water body will have the fate of bioaccumulation and biomagnifications. The only solution to minimize the high concentration of these heavy metals and other lethal pollutants accumulated in the sediments of the river is are physical removal of the sediment. However there will be difficulties in the physical removal of sediments from the river bottom. The pumping of bottom slurry by a slurry pump can be attempted as
