Things you need to know about the Optus Thuraya Service
The Thuraya Satellite Service is not guaranteed in any location, even while in coverage area.
Satellite calls require clear line of sight to a Thuraya satellite. Obstructions such as buildings, heavy tree coverage, bridges, overpasses, carports, garages, etc, may restrict the signal.
To use the Thuraya Satellite Service, you must have International Roaming activated.
Emergency Dialling cannot operate in satellite mode without the relevant SIM card in the satellite mobile phone.
Satellite mobile phones cannot dial Emergency Services while the keypad is locked.
Emergency Dialling may not operate everywhere overseas in satellite mode (as per international roaming).
Satellite calling requires an Australian area code for local landline numbers, e.g. 02 for a NSW number.
Sending & Receiving SMS is not guaranteed in satellite mode between other Australian carriers, eg. Telstra, 3, Vodafone and other satellite providers (such as Globalstar, Inmarsat or Iridium) or international operators.
Satellite to satellite calls cannot restrict CLI.
