nilai, norma dan moral yang bersifat maya. Kerana itu, keluarga maya akan menyebabkan keberantakan yang lebih parah dalam institusi yang tertua di dunia ini. Maka akhirnya benarlah pepatah Inggeris yang berbunyi “corrupt parents makes corrupt children”. Namun begitu masih ada sarjana Barat yang prihatin akan peranan keluarga dalam pendidikan moral dan antaranya Wilson (1990) menyatakan;

“…the family is the best context for moral learning, because it provides a secure frame- work in terms of group identity, it satisfies the need for a personal identity in terms of feeling confident, successful, useful and wanted; it puts the child in close personal contact with adults who provide authority of the desire for intimate response and the approval of one’s kind.”

10.0 CABARAN PENDIDIKAN MORAL MASYARAKAT MELAYU PADA ZAMAN ICT

Masyarakat Melayu yang semakin hari dihimpit dengan nilai materialisme dan hedonisme harus bekerja keras untuk mengembalikan jati diri Islam yang sebenarnya. Peranan setiap individu dalam keluarga khususnya ibubapa pada dunia ‘hiper realiti(memetik Shahrom, 2001) amat penting dan ia memerlukan komitmen dan ‘jihadyang besar. Hal ini kerana pernyataan-pernyataan di bawah menunjukkan bahawa pendidikan moral semakin penting diberi penekanan untuk membina keluarga dan masyarakat yang berakhlak luhur.

“Today parenting is seen as shared not only between mother and father, but also with other caregivers. It is certainly true, of course, that despite this changed sentiment mothers still do the lion’s share of child rearing and homemaking”. (Elkind, 1997)

“Children, in turn, are now seen as competent: ready and able to deal with all of life’s vicissitudes. This new perception of children, however, did not appear because of some new and revolutionary finding about children”. (Halstead, 1999)

“…Adolescent today are seen as sophisticated, as quite knowledgeable about sex, drugs, sexually transmitted diseases, AIDS and modern technology. This new percep- tion is again reflected in media portrayals of teenagers who are sexually active, who may be using drugs, and who consider themselves equal to their parents in decision- making competence”. (Garrett, 98)
