As I sit here writing this, my last chapter report and looking out the window, I can’t believe fall is upon us. I hope all of you have had a wonderful, fun filled spring and summer.
Our chapter has had a terrific 2005 year of rallies. The fall rally was held at Smoky Bear Campground in Gatlinburg, TN and hosted by Ben and Bonnie Harris #15899 and John and Linda Sichenze #15502. The weather was perfect and the owners of the campground were gracious to our every wish. Tennessee RV brought a 2006 Foretravel Nimbus for us to ooh and aah over and we certainly thank them for this.
Election for the upcoming year was held and John Sichenze #15502 was voted in as President and his wife Linda as Secretary/Treasurer. Ira Schwarz #15655 was voted in as Vice President. We thank them for stepping up to the plate and assuming these roles which take effect January 1, 2006.
Our next outing with the Foretravel group was attending the Grandvention in Columbus, IN and what a grand time we had! We all felt like kids again playing carnival games and dancing to the “oldies”. Entertainment was spectacular! Many thanks go out to Peter & Katherine Hampton #12941, hosts for the Grandvention, for a job well done. We are pleased to announce that the new 2006 International president and first lady, Wally and Billye West #14796 are from our Mid-Atlantic chapter. We are so proud of them and know they will do a wonderful job representing Foretravel.
The year 2006 looks exciting for our chapter. The spring rally will be held in Hilton Head, SC at Outdoor Resorts of America on April 6 – 9. The hosts are Joe and Bronnetta Hamilton #11038 and Maribeth Dagenhart #12938. We’re sure all of you will want to attend this rally. Our chapters fall rally will be held during October in the Staunton, VA area and hosted by Don and Nancy Sprouse #16159. The date for this rally will be forth coming so watch our chapter web site and the Foretravel web site for the date.
Alice and I have enjoyed our 2 years as your officers and we look forward to many more wonderful years with Foretravel and the Mid- Atlantic Chapter.
God Bless & Safe Travels,
Ed & Alice Purcell #14909 President & Secretary/Treasurer
By the first of November, 2005, Mid-South will have completed three successful rallies, and a Grand Convention.
Friends Rally in February in Nacogdoches, TX with the masters
Kurt and Michelle Lonergan #14943
The Spring Rally at Rayne, LA, April 20-24, 2005, with George and Barbara Magnon #14920 as wagon masters
The fall Rally at Rock Port, TX, October 19-23, 2005 with Mike and Lanette Hopkins #14755 as wagon masters
These rallies were well attended, with good food and great entertainment, which always adds up to good rallies. Mid-South has it officers in place for the year 2006, with Cleo Dunlap #12222 as President, Atna Dunlap #12222 as Secretary/Treasurer and Jack Frey #13006 as Vice President.
My wife, Sally, and I started our Foretravel venture in 1979 with a 34’ model. Since then we have upgraded seven times with five new models and two used models, all purchased from Foretravel. We have become acquainted with a lot of good people, traveled over many, many beautiful miles of our country, as well as, Canada, and become more appreciative of all the blessings we here in America are blessed with. This mode of traveling will sure spoil a person from traveling any other way, it’s just a good wholesome way to get anywhere.
Sammy and I have been honored to have served as your President and Secretary/Treasurer for 2005. Looking forward to more great rallies and travel with good friends.
See you down the road,
Kenneth & Sammy Ford
This last year the club attended the Foretravel Pre-Summer Fun Rally in Dickinson, N.Dak. from August 9-12 and then we caravanned to the Family Motor Coach Association's (FMCA) 74th International Convention in Minot, N.Dak. from August 15-18. Those attending were President Quentin and Gay Zimmerman #15005, Vice President Cal and Devon Jokstad #8586 and Tom and Marion Braun #16095. The weather was beautiful and sunny and the drive from Dickinson to Minot was most colorful with green rolling hills and fields full of corn, sunflowers and wheat.
In Minot, the club was joined by members Richard and Alice Gunter #12891 and Sam and Virginia Snodgrass #6755. A lovely cocktail party was hosted by Sam and Virginia Snodgrass for the club members. After a night out for supper at the Royal Fork Restaurant, the club held a meeting to discuss 2006 events and elect 2006 officers. It was decided to hold two rallies in 2006. The spring rally in June will be hosted by Cal and Devon Jokstad while the fall rally will be hosted by Sam and Virginia Snodgrass.
