NORTH ATLANTIC CHAPTER
Dolly Ferguson, President Marlene Wildenstein, Secretary
Greetings from the North Atlantic Chapter. We have a great group of friendly, fascinating and fun-loving people. We want to extend a heartfelt invitation to all members of our Foretravel Chapter as well as everyone across the country to join us at our 2006 rallies. We will make you welcome and you will be in for a real treat. You will discover we have a team of ‘Master Chefs’, led by our own Charlie Bateman #12235, who provide ’gourmet meals’ at our rallies. That includes a full breakfast to a grilled steak dinner plus Charlie’s famous Garbage Can Turkey. Even if you should come just for the food you will not be disappointed.
Paul Wildenstein #11292 and Michael Allen #14993 have volunteered to be our Rally Masters for 2006. We are excited and can’t wait to get together at these rallies.
Our Spring Rally will be held at Normandy Farms June 1-4, 2006 in Foxboro, MA. It’s a beautiful RV Resort with lots of amenities near Boston and Cape Cod. There will be many sightseeing opportunities so plan on arriving early and staying late, as many of us will be doing the same.
Our Fall Rally is planned for Association Island RV Resort on beautiful Lake Ontario near Watertown, NY the last week of September, 2006. Come and enjoy the wonderful sunsets. This rally will end just a few days before the ‘New England’ Motorcade, so for those of you who will be traveling on this Motorcade, why not make plans to join us. What a great way start to your trip!
For more details about our upcoming rallies and activities, as well as, our photo album, go to www.foretravel.com then click on Motorcade then click Regional Chapters and there you will find our link at North Atlantic Chapter. We wish to thank Don & Barbara Cote #10117 for an outstanding job as our Rally Hosts for our Spring Rally in Essex Junction, VT where we attended their annual Balloon Festival. It was a wonderful weekend with perfect weather as we watched the balloons take off from our “Front Lawn” at the Champlain Valley Campground. Also, our thanks to Tennessee RV for their support of our rally. In addition, we want to thank our 2005 President Larry & Sue Green #12867 for hosting our Fall Rally in September at the Millbridge Camping Resort in Lancaster, PA where everyone enjoyed the musical production at the Sight & Sound Theater.
We had 19 members in attendance at the Foretravel Grandvention in Columbus, IN. It was really a fun time with lots of games, an auction, a Red Hat Tea and many, many laughs. The best part of all---seeing ‘old’ friends again and making new ones!
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA CHAPTER
The 4th Hatterle Stomp seemed to go very well. We had 23 people staying from Thursday-Sunday and several that came early to help set up and others who stayed later just for the fun of it!
Wednesday night about 9 people gathered for a pre-rally pot luck dinner in the patio room. By Friday morning everyone had arrived to attend the festivities. Cliff & Dorleen Dunlap #12191 came up from Visalia, Ron & Sophie Morrell #12049 came the furthest from Corona Del Mar. We had two first-time couples that were able to join our party. Both couples, Gary & Kathy Landes #16114 from Fresno and Mike & Mary Ellen Morris #16010 from Plymouth were delightful and had great fun playing various games.
Dayton & Carolyn Koch #11786 came on Friday morning and stayed in the house as their coach had some fire damage that was being repaired. Ed & Karen Hatterle flew from Seattle to attend the festivities. They were guest of Roland & Linda Hatterle #11488 who were the wagon masters.
Friday was going to be a very busy day. We caravanned to Harmony Wynelands where we were treated to a very enjoyable organ concert and a delicious luncheon. Of course, there was also a great wine tasting as Bob (owner and organist) explained about each wine and how he chose which wines to produce. We even got to see some of the crush as it was being completed on the premises. After that, we checked out a new winery on route to CHOCOHOLICS, a Devine Desserts Factor Store where we had a great dessert (2nd one that day), and a guided tour. Victoria Secrets is going to carry some of their items, so check it out!
That evening the guys barbequed a great tri-tips served with baked potato and green salad. I think we gals left the patio room at 1:00 AM after finishing our games. Saturday morning we had our traditional European breakfast followed by a short meeting. The election of officers was tabled as President Hatterle was called away to go work one of the vineyards. We held an Oktoberfest that night with Sophie Morrell in charge of making the dishes, as she had the most experience with German cuisine. We had a 3 piece band coming and about 20 to 24 other guests had been invited to join the fun, dinner and dancing. Thanks to the great kitchen staff of Karen Griffin #10286, Mary Lyngso #12588, Hannelore Thomas #6464, the dinner was delicious! To assist our guests, everyone wore name tags and the guest brought wine and beer to share with the Foretravel members. Everyone commented that they enjoyed the company, food, music and dancing immensely.
