VHHS Student School Board Representative Tia Ginakakis reported on the following:

Winter sports are starting

Students are excited about the upcoming Thanksgiving break

o

2 Cross Country students earned All-State Honors

o

5 Girls’ Swimmers will be competing at state competition

o

The Speech Team will be competing in a JV Tournament

o

The Spark Club is making blankets for families affected by cancer

LHS Student School Board Representative Rohan Taneja reported on the following:

o

The football team lost in the first round of playoffs

o

Swim activities will begin soon

o

Winter training will begin for spring sports

o

Extracurricular clubs continue to increase their membership

o

Student Council is holding their annual canned food drive

o

Auditions for Orchesis will be held

o

Winter Concert rehearsals are taking place

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

Superintendent Prentiss Lea reported on the following Good News:

District 128 has once again been named a winner in the SchoolSearch 2008 Bright A+ Award for academic excellence in education.  The District is one of only 60 Illinois school districts (out of 871) honored with this award.  The school districts receiving the award are among the top 5% of Illinois school districts academically, based on 2007 Illinois School Report Card Data.

Congratulations to Vernon Hills High School senior Kirsten Groody who was named the winner of this year’s DAR Good Citizen Award.  Each year, the faculty selects a student for this honor who demonstrates the
