Throughout my many years of higher education, there have been several individuals who have stood by my side every step of the way and who have shown dedication and respect while working diligently with me on my many endeavors. Every part of my educational journey has been made possible by the gracious and loving support of my father, Gary Blackwell. My father supported me in every venture in college and provided me with the financial and resourceful backing I needed to complete my education. I am forever grateful for his undying support and love. Dad, I am forever thankful to you for everything you have done for me.

My mother is another individual who has stood by me through the years. There isn’t a single person in this world I love more than my mother and I am forever indebted to her for being the kind soul to help raise me into the man I am today. Mother, thank-you for your patience, acceptance, understanding, love, and support throughout my life; you are always in my heart and soul. Another individual who has touched my life during my educational journey is Dr. Ermalynn Kiehl. From the early days of my undergraduate studies in Nursing, Dr. Kiehl has held the light to my path in life.

The amount of dedication and love she has given me throughout the years is immeasurable. Through an undergraduate honors thesis, a masters thesis, and now finally, this dissertation, Dr. Kiehl has been instrumental in paving my way
