I welcome this decision – we’ll need to get used to it sure, but i’m sure if this comments board existed when the monti was originally put in the Foss, people would have been complaining too... xi qrid maahh

Paul Borg(1 day, 15 hours ago) This is another blow for catering businesses in Valletta. Yet another obstacle to join the CVA mess, the never ending works on unecessary projects , the elimination of parking areas and the continuous interruption of power supply for Sunday maintenance. And yet the ETC keeps bothering us to employ more people on full time basis. Would it have killed the ministry to allow hawkers to remain in Merchant street with a small extension up to St John street ? Where is the Valletta Alive foundation, the MHRA, the GRTU, and the Republic street business community ?

P. Montebello(1 day, 13 hours ago) Paul, I do not know if you have noted the onslaught of parking tickets on patrons coming into Valletta in the evening, when most of the shops are closed but quite a few catering outlets are open. It seems that a war is being fought to rid Valletta of catering at night. I am referring to parking in Castille Place, in Market Square. in Christoper street, in St Paul Street and many other streets. So Castille Place and especially Market Square is OK to park in for ministers, members of parliament (all of them) and visiting dignitaries, but not OK for us ordinary Maltese people. This also goes when there is a performance at the MCC or Manoel Theatre.
Last Sunday, at around 6.30pm, I saw a traffic warden issuing a ticket to a car parked in a yellow box, unloading only, in St John Street, corner with St Paul Street. Pray, what inconvenience was this car causing? To top it all the warden vehicle was parked on the pavement, in front of a house, under a towing sign. Did they give themselves a parking ticket?
