        Policies

Employment policies serve to establish rules of conduct, set expectations, and ensure

that employees are treated consistently. A few policies (i.e., a sexual harassment policy and

an FMLA policy) are required by law. However, in some instances broad written policies

may not serve an employer’s interest and may even expose the employer to liability if its

policies are not consistently applied and enforced. As such, before establishing written

policies an employer should ensure that its managers are sufficiently capable and trained to
