(A) Accident & Emergency Medicine

The Casualty Department is open 24 hours for acutely ill patients who arrive at CMC after regular clinic hours needing immediate care. Triage nurse will assess

the patient PATIENTS

and issue permission MUST REGISTER

for registration. ALL THE CASUALTY



Counters are available to pay for emergency investigations and drugs at the Emergency Department.

(B) Paediatric Casualty

The Paediatric Casualty department in the ISSCC is open 24 hours and treats Children who are brought after regular clinic hours and requiring immediate care. THEY SHOULD REGISTER AT THE CASUALTY COUNTER OR COUNTER NO.15 PAYING RS.160/- after getting permission slip from paediatric Casualty.

(C) CHEST PAIN UNIT Patients with chest pain should go directly to this Unit, situated at the entrance of the main campus.

ADVANCE BOOKING Before your visit to CMC it is advisable to have an appointment made in advance.


Advance registration is possible upto three months. Registration by post can be done if your request reaches CMC at least 1 month in advance. To fix an appointment by post as a new patient, please write to the Head, Outpatient Services with the following details :

1. Patient Information Form : Please complete the Patient Information Form (page no. 21)

2. Departments to be consulted : Please specify the department(s) you would like to consult. If you are not sure, you can enclose a description of your problems, and any

relevant medical reports.

Premature and low-weight babies need immediate medical care


3. Date of appointment preferred : The weekly schedule of clinics is available on page 63 - 87. You can use this to decide your preferred date of appointment. It is advisable to make train reservations so as to arrive in Vellore on the evening before your appointment date.

4. Payment : Please enclose a draft for the registration and consultation fees, according to the number of depart- ments you wish to consult. The draft should be in favour of Treasurer, CMC Vellore Association and payable at Vellore. Please note that the rates are revised periodically, and you may be asked to pay the difference after your arrival. If you send excess money, it will be credited against your name. The advance appointment will be confirmed only after paying the registration fees.

Based on your request, we will fix an appointment, and write back to you by ordinary post. If you are an old patient kindly mention your hospital number to fix an appointment.


You can contact the following numbers. 0416 - 2220195, 2283430, 2283429 between 8 am to 4.30 pm except on Sundays for appointment. You will be given an invoice number. On your arrival, go to any of the Medical Computer Terminal Technician (MCTT) counters for pay- ment. Your registration will be confirmed only on payment of registration fees latest by 4.30 p.m. the previous day of your appointment.

REFUNDS Private Patients : 1. In case of cancellation, for a new patient, the consultation fee of Rs.355/- only will be refunded, after deducting a service charge of Rs.120/-.
