Shipper shall be responsible party for payment of or reimbursement to carrier, for any fines resulting from excess weight of any shipment that causes the carrier to be in violation of any local, state, or federal law.
Shipper shall be responsible for fines to TCI associated with an incorrect weight stated on the BOL, plus a $250 penalty.
Fines incurred for equipment defects are the responsibility of the equipment owner.
Overweight shipments that are accepted and performed by carrier which require permits will be subject to a surcharge of $100.00 for the permit plus the cost of any special license or permit required.
Transportation services are subject to a fuel surcharge. The fuel surcharge will be based on the Department of Energy (DOE) U.S. National Average price of diesel fuel. A fuel surcharge will be assessed when diesel fuel reaches $3.50 per gallon. The following table will be used to determine applicable fuel surcharges. The current Department of Energy National Average for diesel fuel can be viewed at their website ().

The Department of Energy provides its data on Mondays, except when there is a holiday. TCI will review the DOE’s National PPG on the first and third Monday of each month. Based on the data provided by the DOE, TCI’s FSC will be updated using the above chart. The effective period will be the following Tuesday through the next scheduled update (e.g.: third Monday of the month). TCI posts its current FSC on its website, www.tcitrucking.com.
