Twenty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time

School Begins at St. Barbara

For the one hundredth time in the history of St. Barbara School, students will be returning to classrooms. School begins for first through eighth grades on Thurs- day, August 26. Kindergarten will begin on Friday, August 27. Students should gather on the playground. Teachers will meet students and bring them to their new classrooms at 7:55 am. Thursday and Friday are 11:30 am. early dismissal days. Students should dress neatly for school. Full days of classes begin on Monday, August 30. Students should be in full uniform on Mon- day, August 30.

Preschool begins Monday, August 30.

St. Barbara School will sponsor a Back to School Bash on Sunday, August 29th in the parking lot and field following the 9:30 a.m. Family Mass. It is a great way to kick off the new school year with old and new friends. Please join us for hot dogs, bean bag games and all around good old fashioned fun until 1:00 pm. If it happens to rain, we will move the festivities to the school lower hall

Religious Education Grades 1 – 8 First Class Sunday, September 19 9:00 a.m. at

St. Mary of Perpetual Help Registration at St. Barbara August 21 & 22 and 28 & 29 after Mass

St. Barbara will once again partner with our neighboring parish, St. Mary of Perpetual Help, 32nd St. and Aber- deen, for Religious Education, CCD. Registration for St.

Barbara families will take place here at St. Barbara, while the classes will be taught at St. Mary of Perpetual Help in the high school building. Any parent whose child attends an elementary school that is not Catholic has a re- sponsibility to make sure that their children are educated in our Catholic faith. There is also the requirement that any child preparing for the sacrament of Confession, First Communion, or Confirmation be in the religious education program for at least two years. Our children will celebrate their sacraments at St. Bar- bara. Our parishioner, Roberta Carden, will once again be St. Barbara’s Religious Education Coordinator. Fourth Annual Golf Outing Join the fun!

St. Barbara School will host its fourth annual golf outing on September 11, 2010 at Glen Eagles Country Club. The after- noon event will begin at 12:00 noon with lunch. The shotgun start will begin after lunch. A price of $135 includes golf, cart, lunch, dinner, open bar and golf gift. All proceeds from the event go to support St. Barbara School. The event also sponsors three scholarships for St. Barbara students.
