NOWRA BOWLING CLUB FISHING CLUB
The Club has just completed its 11th year of operation. Membership has grown to 111, with half our members being of the fairer sex. Eleven outings were held, even though three were cancelled due to wet weather (1) and volunteer days at Kangaroo Valley (2). Thirty five members weighed in fish.
Thirty three members worked as volunteers at Kangaroo Valley. This effort is very gratifying and shows an overall interest in the activities of Nowra bowling club.
This was held on 30th September and it was one of the biggest roll-ups yet. It was a terrific day. Many thanks to Gopher for his organising ability. The eighth running of this event will be held on Sunday 5th October 2008.
Once again we supplied shirts to the bowlers. The No.5’s played in the State play-offs and acquitted themselves very well at Coffs Harbour.
This was held on 16th – 18th November and is held in memory of Norm Jorgenson, a foundation member and tireless worker. Approximately 70 people attended the second running of this event. It was a fantastic weekend, highlighted by the attendance of Norm’s wife, Grace, and members of his immediate family. Guy Jamieson, a relative newcomer, was the winner of the ‘Crab’s Trophy’. Jorgo’s weekend this year will be held on 14/15/16 November. Accommodation has been booked and will be allocated on a ‘first in’ basis.
This weekend was held at Conjola and was attended by 47 people. The outing was won by Judy Hanson.
This weekend is held in memory of Graham McDonell and was won by Peter Hanson
This was won by Clarrie Peck – a dubious honour
This event was held at Blenheim Beach and was organised by Ruth Godfrey and Peter Flanagan. Cassie is our eldest active fisher and a good crowd attended to wish her a happy birthday.
THANKS to everyone who contributed to the success of the year, especially Marg and her office staff.
