Hyper-V Single Host Server Architecture The single host server architecture pattern is illustrated below. The architecture consists of a single host server running Windows Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V that runs a number of virtual machine guests. This pattern provides server consolidation but does not provide high availability. The host server is a single point of failure and this architecture will necessitate a Save State or Power Off of the virtual machine guests should the host server require maintenance or reboot.
