This Tonka tinpla- te model with rubber tracks was made in 1963 and was a wel- come addition to the models available at the time in toy stores.
With some small adjustments to the rope lines, it was possible to simulate the movements of a real dragline which could be done su- perbly in a sand box or on a sandy beach. Together with the Michigan T24, real excavation of a small pit was possible. The quality of this tinplate model, manufactured in the USA was of a high quality and standard with the model still retaining the original rubber tracks which are just as flexible as they were when purchased in 1963.

ntil its appearance, excavator models with drag lines where virtually unknown in the toy mar- ket.
The Tonka Dragline Model most probably is not a reproduction of an existing prototype and closely re- sembles an older model Loraine ex- cavator manufactured in the USA.
